SUMMER PET HINTS

Never leave your pet in the car. It may seem like a car trip will cool off your pet, but it will probably do more harm than good if you leave your pet in the car for even a few minutes. The temperature in your car can rise over 100 degrees in a matter of minutes, so if you are bringing the dog in the car, make sure you can take him out on any errands you run when parking the vehicle.

Question:  What do you like about Deborah's Pet and House Sitting Service?

Answer:  "Well, let me think about that question.  I really like it when Miss Deborah takes care of me.  She seems to understand my wants and needs even before I know them.  I don't mind being spoiled either."  (Maggie)

"Heaven goes by favor; if it went by merit, you would stay out and your dog would go in."

(Mark Twain)

New Addition to Family?  Once you have the nursery set up, allow your pet to gently inspect it. Install a baby gate and begin using it, or close the door when you aren't around so your pet doesn't have free access to this room. This helps establish boundaries before the baby arrives.

Question: What are the signs of heatstroke in pets?

Imagine not being able to shed your winter clothes on a hot summer day, and your only means of cooling off was by panting. Dogs and cats have little choice when it comes to keeping cool in summer heat. Recognizing the signs of heatstroke will allow for prompt treatment; and time is of the essence when treating this condition.

Helpful Hint:  If your pet gets pine tree sap on it, use baby oil to remove it.
